Police say the man, posing as a pest-control salesman, approached the child in May before leaving on a Segway-type device and being arrested the next day. Prosecutors have not yet explained why the case was dropped.

2. Navy sailor returns home to Michigan after record-breaking time at sea amid war in Iran (woodtv.com) — A Brighton Township crowd, including members of the Brighton American Legion Post 235, welcomed home Navy sailor Nicholas Snow after more than 300 days aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Snow described the strain of the extended deployment, including morale issues and suicide attempts among crew, but said he remains committed to serving. Local veterans helped organize several small celebrations during his brief two-week leave.
