Genesee County chief who helped form new department to retire after 40 years (mlive.com) — A former Burton Police Department detective who helped create the Metro Police Authority of Genesee County is retiring as chief after 40 years in law enforcement. Matt Bade, who served many years in Burton before leading the regional agency, will step down May 31, with Lt. Michael Murphy set to take over. Bade plans to stay in Genesee County and remain active locally.
