• Coldwater, Bronson girls soccer drop 7-0 decisions (wtvbam.com) — Coldwater’s girls soccer team opened Interstate 8 play Thursday with a tough 7-0 home loss to Marshall after rain forced the game onto Cardinal Field’s turf. The Cardinals, now 2-2-1, will look to bounce back when they host Battle Creek Central on Saturday morning. Bronson also dropped a 7-0 road match at Olivet and heads to Sturgis next.
   

• BCSO continues investigation of two-car crash (hastingsbanner.com) — A 19-year-old man from Coldwater suffered life-threatening injuries after being ejected from a GMC Acadia in a two-vehicle crash on M-66 in Barry County last week. Three other occupants were also hospitalized, and the Barry County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the collision involving a Toyota Camry and the Acadia at Tasker Road.
   

• OBITUARY: John Albert Newberry (wtvbam.com) — Coldwater-area residents are remembering Quincy businessman John Newberry, a founder of the Coldwater Car Show and Swap Meet and member of the UCT Coldwater Council. The longtime Canopys R Us owner, community volunteer, and racing enthusiast died Wednesday at age 90, with a public celebration of life planned July 25 at Butler Motor Speedway.
