Dearborn Elementary School To Get New Playground After Fire
The Dearborn School District's insurance will pay for most of the new structure.
DEARBORN, MI — A new playground will be installed at a Dearborn elementary school after a fire earlier this summer.
The fire happened on July 23 and destroyed most of the playground equipment at Nowlin Elementary School, according to officials.
Officials said no one was hurt in the fire. Two juveniles were questioned by police. Officials last said the minors' parents/guardians were cooperating with investigators.

School officials approved a measure to purchase a new playground from We Build Fun for $124,129.
The Dearborn School District’s insurance will pay for the structure, excluding a $5,000 deductible.

The Dearborn Elks also donated $500 toward the playground’s restoration.
The district is also planning to add a rubber mat under the new structure to make it more accessible to students with disabilities.
Crews will start installing the playground in October with a possible reopening in November.
