The volunteer-run program, in a former Detroit Police horse facility, offers rides for a $10 donation, hosts community events, and partners with groups like Camp Casey to bring horses and educational programs directly to kids across the city.
   

4. Early Motown songwriter Janie Bradford Hobbs dies in Los Angeles after illness at age 87 (cbsnews.com) — Detroit's Motown community is mourning songwriter Janie Bradford Hobbs, who moved to the city as a young woman and later became a key creative force at Motown and a familiar face at the Detroit-based Motown Museum. Best known for co-writing "Money (That's What I Want)" and other classics, she also nurtured future talent through her Heroes and Legends Awards before dying in Los Angeles at 87.
