• Safari Club International and Memorial Healthcare donate medical supplies to Africa (midmichigannow.com) — A Fenton-based doctor and Safari Club International volunteers have organized a $1.2 million shipment of surplus medical supplies from Michigan hospitals to every province in South Africa. Sparked by one nurse's question, the effort grew into a statewide collection drive, with supplies now loaded in trucks and expected to arrive overseas in about 45 days for distribution and training. 
• Walmart issues urgent safety warning after recalled products sold to consumers post-recall (nj.com subscription) — Fenton residents who bought furniture from Threads of Fenton should double-check any Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers at home, as Walmart has reannounced a recall over serious tip-over and entrapment risks to children. Some recalled units were resold through liquidators after the May 2026 recall, so families are urged to verify their dressers and follow recall instructions immediately.
