• MDHSS awards $300,000 to community violence initiatives in Flint and Saginaw (midmichigannow.com) — Flint's Crim Fitness Foundation has been awarded part of a $1.5 million MDHHS grant to expand community violence intervention efforts through the Greater Flint Community Safety Collaborative. The funding will help local partners share crime data, coordinate responses, and build trust so conflicts can be addressed before they escalate, with programs expected to roll out immediately.
   

• Pets of the week: Boop is a distinguished gentleman. Marilyn has a gorgeous tuxedo coat. (mlive.com) — Genesee County Animal Care on Pasadena Avenue in Flint Township is highlighting two adoptable pets, Boop the affectionate, people-loving dog who needs to be an only pet, and Marilyn, a friendly tuxedo cat. With modest adoption fees, no advance application, and walk-in hours, the shelter urges local families to visit soon, especially as Boop is struggling in the kennel environment.
   

• One year later: Grand Blanc community shows resilience after church attack (abc12.com) — A year after the deadly attack on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, the congregation has been worshiping at a Flint location while its original building is rebuilt. Community support, including relief funds backed by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and ELGA Credit Union, continues as church leaders prepare to break ground on a new meetinghouse and reflect on resilience.
