1. 35th annual Donald Riegle Community Service Awards honor Flint leaders (abc12.com) — Flint residents are being recognized for their long-standing work to improve life across the community through the 35th annual Donald Riegle Community Service Awards. Hosted by the Flint Jewish Federation, this year's event honored three local leaders and raises money to support refugee and immigrant services in Genesee County, including case coordination and help adjusting to life here.
   

2. Mid-Michigan Honor Flight veterans returning to Flint Wednesday night (abc12.com) — If you're near Flint tonight, you're invited to Bishop International Airport to welcome Mid-Michigan Honor Flight veterans home from their two-day trip to Washington, D.C. The group, on its 27th mission, gives local veterans a free chance to visit memorials in their honor, and the community is encouraged to gather around 9 p.m. to cheer their return.
   

3. Hurley to unveil new Flint Firebirds Multipurpose Room Thursday (wnem.com) — Hurley Children's Hospital in Flint is opening a new Flint Firebirds Multipurpose Room in its pediatric unit, with a ribbon-cutting celebration on Thursday. Funded through the Firebirds' Spaghetti On Ice charity event, the flexible space will host activities, educational sessions, staff training, and provide a private area for difficult family-care team conversations.
   

4. Flint man sentenced to nearly 30 years for 2024 double homicide of 2 teens (mlive.com) — A Flint man has been sentenced to 28 to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty in a 2024 double homicide that killed two teenagers on Flint's north side. Prosecutors say the shootings happened at a home on Banbury Place, and multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder and assault with intent to murder, were resolved through a plea deal.
   

5. Grand Rapids band Cabildo blends Latin music, Rock and Folk to share culture (midmichigannow.com) — A Grand Rapids band called Cabildo is helping Michigan audiences, including those in Flint, explore the rich diversity of Latin American music by blending traditional sounds with rock and folk. As Hispanic Heritage Month begins, the group emphasizes community, shared culture, and interactive performances where listeners are encouraged to participate and discover music their families may have loved for generations.
