• Bankrupt Marine Retailer Plans to Close 59 Stores Across 23 States (whatnow.com) — Grand Haven’s West Marine store is on a nationwide closure list as the boating retailer restructures under Chapter 11, meaning local boaters may soon lose a key supply outlet. The company plans to shut 59 stores in 23 states while keeping about 200 locations and its online shop open as it works to cut debt and exit bankruptcy later this summer.
   

• Complete team effort carries Grand Haven softball team past Dakota, into first state final appearance (localsportsjournal.com) — Grand Haven’s varsity softball team is headed to its first-ever state championship game after an 8-3 semifinal win over Macomb Dakota in East Lansing. Powered by senior pitcher Lorelei Chciuk’s 15 strikeouts and big bats throughout the lineup, the Buccaneers’ senior-heavy squad believes its tough schedule and tight team chemistry have them ready to bring a title back to Grand Haven.
   

• ‘Silence the Violence' events planned across Michigan for Gun Violence Prevention month (clickondetroit.com) — Grand Haven residents are invited to a Silence the Violence silent march and ceremony at St. John’s Episcopal Church on June 20 as part of Gun Violence Prevention Month. The statewide End Gun Violence Michigan coalition is organizing similar educational events, vigils, and trainings throughout June, including several in nearby Holland and across Ottawa County.
