• Veo Replaces Lime In Grand Rapids On September 1st (wgrd.com subscription) — If you rely on scooters or e-bikes to get around Grand Rapids, Lime is out and Veo is in starting September 1 under a new three-year city contract. Veo will bring mostly seated scooters, e-bikes, and even self-balancing trikes, plus a $5 monthly access plan with daily free ride minutes. Many devices will also use radar to curb sidewalk riding without raising prices for at least three years.
   

• 'A beautiful place': Revived Ladies' Literary Club aims to carry on legacy (woodtv.com) — A historic women-founded club on Sheldon Boulevard in downtown Grand Rapids is being revived as a hub for arts, ideas, and community gatherings. New leaders are welcoming the public back into the Tiffany-glass-lined clubhouse while working to buy the building and secure its future. Membership interest is strong, but they still need funds to keep this Grand Rapids landmark thriving.
   

• Ontario wildfire smoke drove Michigan AQI to 616 as researchers warn the threat is growing (thecooldown.com) — Grand Rapids saw an astonishingly hazardous air quality index of 616 on July 16 as smoke from Ontario wildfires drifted into Michigan, far above the "hazardous" threshold. Researchers warn that such smoke events are likely to become more frequent, longer-lasting, and more dangerous, driven by hotter, drier conditions and increasing wildfire activity across North America.
