Pumpkin Patch in Michigan: Corn Maze and U-Pick Pumpkins in Commerce Township, Oct. 16 to Nov. 1

Three weekends are left at the Fun Farm at Long Family Orchard & Farm in Commerce Township, and Sunday, Nov. 1 is the last Fun Farm day of the year. If a pumpkin patch in Michigan is on your fall list, this is the stretch to go: Fridays 11am to 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 7pm, with last admission at 6pm, through Sunday, Nov. 1.

The Long family has farmed this land on Commerce Road since 1876, and this is their 150th fall. The corn maze gets a brand-new design every year. The hayride runs out to the u-pick pumpkin patch all day, and you pick yours right off the vine.

One Fun Farm ticket covers, all day:

• The corn maze and the hayride to the pumpkin patch
• Two jumping pillows and the bounce house
• The combine slide and the giant hill slide
• The pedal kart track, the spider web and the tunnel tube
• The sand hill, corn box and straw maze for the little ones
• The petting farm, with goats, a donkey and alpacas
• The picnic area and play structures

What it costs

• $19 online, or $21 at the gate
• Kids under 32 inches tall: free
• Pumpkins you pick are priced at the patch, and you pay on the way out
• Apple and pumpkin cannon ammo, kettle corn and fresh-squeezed lemonade are extra

Fridays in October (Oct. 16, 23 and 30) are Discount Day at the Fun Farm, with details on the farm's recorded update line, (248) 360-3774. On select nights the corn maze also reopens after dark as the Moonlight Corn Maze, walked by flashlight; the dates go up on the farm's Facebook page.

The farm is cashless, so bring a card. Light rain won't close it. If weather ever does, ticket holders get a code to reschedule, since there are no refunds. Pets stay home.

When you're done, the Cider Mill is steps away with hot cinnamon sugar donuts, fresh-pressed cider and cider slushes, no ticket needed. It stays open daily through Thanksgiving Eve.
