1. Buyers will own these Howell Township homes. A nonprofit will own the ground underneath. (cbsnews.com) — Four new homes in Howell Township will be sold for about $250,000 each through a community land trust designed to keep them permanently affordable for future buyers. Local workers who earn up to 60% of area median income, including many priced out of Howell's rising market, can start applying on September 30 for a chance to buy.

2. Howell planners recommend approval of new daycare at First Presbyterian (bnd.com) — Howell families could soon see a new daycare at First Presbyterian Church, after planners unanimously recommended a special land use permit for Tynedale Classical Academy. The center would use the church's education wing and existing playground, operate on weekdays, and now awaits final approval from Howell City Council to move forward.

3. Howell Public Schools enrolled 7,045 students in 2024-25 (livingstontoday.com) — Howell Public Schools enrolled 7,045 students in 2024-25, a 4.8% increase that keeps local classrooms busy across 10 schools based in and around Howell. The district remains predominantly white and largest at Howell High, while statewide enrollment and demographics shift amid a growing education budget and higher per-pupil funding for Michigan students.

4. Northwest Elementary School enrolled 1 Asian student in 2024-25 (livingstontoday.com) — Northwest Elementary in the Howell Public Schools district enrolled just one Asian student out of 418 in 2024‑25, continuing a long pattern of very low Asian representation. The data, which also show a heavily white student body, come as statewide test scores remain below pre‑pandemic levels and achievement gaps between ethnic groups persist across Michigan.

5.
