• Hawaiian students made up 0.2% of Livingston County districts' student body in 2024-25 (livingstontoday.com) — Howell Public Schools has the highest number of Hawaiian students in Livingston County, with 24 enrolled in 2024–25, representing 0.3% of its student body. Countywide, just 40 Hawaiian students attend public schools, making them one of the least represented ethnic groups, while overall Michigan enrollment has dipped since before the pandemic. 
• Highland House Restaurant Celebrates 50 Years (whmi.com) — A longtime restaurant family that operates Gus's Carry Out in Howell is celebrating 50 years of their flagship Highland House location, marked with 1976 throwback prices and even a visit from the Stanley Cup. Owner Elia Nicholas was honored for employing thousands and supporting workers with disabilities, while local officials praised the family's deep community impact across Howell, Brighton, Milford and beyond.
