Healthy walking program now includes a new Middleville group while continuing several Hastings options, including Riverwalk, Pennock Wellness Center, and Hastings Area Trail Hikes. Hastings residents can join weekly, hour-long walks on local trails and riverwalks, plus enjoy coordinated music nights that avoid conflicts between Hastings Live and Middleville’s Riverbank Music Series.
   

• Hastings student named to Albion Dean's ListHastings (hastingsbanner.com) — A Hastings resident and Hastings High School graduate, Tanner Armstrong, has earned a spot on Albion College’s Spring 2026 Dean’s List, marking the second semester they’ve achieved this honor. Armstrong, who studies music and computer science in the college’s honors program, maintained at least a 3.5 GPA while carrying a full graded course load.
   

• Man gets life in prison for murder of 79-year-old (woodtv.com) — A man has been sentenced in Hastings to life in prison, plus an additional lengthy term, for the 2024 murder and robbery of 79-year-old Battle Creek resident Jimmy Sykes. Investigators say the victim was lured out under the pretense of breakfast, then brutally attacked and run over in rural Baltimore Township, with a co-defendant’s case still pending.
