• Gogebic County rejects push to recover unsaleable goods (yourdailyglobe.com) — Gogebic County commissioners have rejected a proposed ordinance that Ironwood resident Brittany Martin championed to recover unsaleable retail goods for local nonprofits and recycling. The board also advanced millage language that would help fund Ironwood’s HOPE Animal Shelter and approved other countywide measures on medical care, timber projects, youth sports and property values.
   

• JUCO NEWS: Gogebic names Sharrow new Head Basketball Coach (hoopdirt.com) — Ironwood native Denver Sharrow has been promoted to head men’s basketball coach at Gogebic Community College, taking over after longtime coach Dennis Mackey’s retirement. Sharrow, a former GCC standout and current TRiO coordinator, will now lead the men’s program while the college searches for new women’s head and men’s assistant coaches.
   

• Andrew M. Iskra (yourdailyglobe.com) — An obituary honors 68-year-old Andrew Iskra, who passed away April 1 at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Center in Ironwood after a brief illness. Born in Ontonagon, he is remembered as a gifted storyteller and is survived by his brother, John, with burial in Ontonagon planned for a later date.
