Jackson Juneteenth Celebration Returns June 18–20 with jobs fair, scholarships, and free festival (wilx.com) — Jackson’s Juneteenth celebration returns June 18–20 with a downtown job fair, mayoral candidate panel, scholarship dinner, and a big free festival. Organizers and TRUE Community Credit Union are putting $25,000 toward scholarships, especially for students of color. Residents can attend the employment fair, political panel, and Saturday’s family-friendly celebration with vendors, performances, and a kids zone.

2. M-50 paving project in Jackson County to begin June 15 with lane closures (annarbortimes.com) — Drivers in and around Jackson County should prepare for lane and shoulder closures on M-50 between Stony Lake Road and Napoleon Road from June 15 through July 31. MDOT’s $846,000 paving project will cause daily single-lane closures but aims to deliver a smoother, safer ride. The work also supports several local jobs through construction spending.

3. American 1 CU announces 2026 scholarships and grant recipients (941theduke.com) — American 1 Credit Union, based in Jackson, has awarded $13,500 in scholarships and grants to students across its five-county service area, including several from Jackson high schools. The Community Involvement Scholarship and Board of Directors Grant support seniors and adults pursuing college or trade programs. Funding comes from members who use the Skip-a-Pay loan option.

4. Michigan commit Lundon Hampton isn't backing down from competition (mlive.com) — Michigan football commit Lundon Hampton, a former Jackson Lumen Christi player who won a Division 7 state title there as a freshman, is embracing competition as he prepares for college. Now starring at Kenowa Hills, he’s shifted positions, broken school records, and chosen the Wolverines for the chance to develop under running backs coach Tony Alford while chasing a big senior season.
