• Michigan unemployment rate above national average as state marks Labor Day (woodtv.com) — From Lansing, a new Labor Day report shows Michigan's unemployment rate sitting above the national average, with more job seekers than openings and thousands of manufacturing jobs lost last year. The analysis highlights falling labor-force participation, high benefit exhaustion, and the continuing role of unions, while urging policy changes around wages, childcare, transportation, and education that would affect workers across the Lansing region.

• Game of the Week: Olivet and Portland clash in key CAAC White matchup (wilx.com) — Lansing‑area football fans will see familiar rivals when Portland hosts Olivet in WILX's Game of the Week, after earlier matchups against Lansing Sexton and Lansing Catholic helped shape the CAAC White race.
