Actor Profile: Ny'Kieria Blocker becomes mainstay on Lansing stages (wkar.org) — Lansing theatergoers can spot Ny'Kieria Blocker all over local stages, from award-winning turns in "The Spongebob Musical" and "The Rocky Horror Show" at Riverwalk to her first non-musical lead in "First Date." The Lansing-area performer, inspired by Tyler Perry and Viola Davis, continues to champion joyful Black love stories and will return this September in the musical comedy "Reefer Madness."

Michigan House to investigate Board of State Canvassers after petition drive fails (wlns.com) — From the Capitol in Lansing, House Republicans have created a select committee to investigate the Board of State Canvassers and Bureau of Elections after a voter ID and citizenship petition drive failed to make November's ballot. GOP lawmakers allege a pattern of bias against Republican-backed petitions, while Secretary of State officials insist the board has followed longstanding Michigan law.
   

4. Greater Lansing Week 1 football roundup: Mason extends rivalry win streak (lansingstatejournal.com) — Greater Lansing football fans saw Mason dominate Holt in the Cedar Street Bowl while East Lansing fell in a tight matchup with Midland. The roundup highlights standout performances from Mason, Okemos, Perry, Ithaca, Lakewood, St. Johns and others as Week 1 kicked off across mid-Michigan. It's a quick way to catch up on who shined under the Friday night lights.
