• Lansing announces plans to restore historic Reutter Park Fountain (wlns.com) — Lansing leaders are moving ahead with a $1.5 million plan to restore the nearly century-old Reutter Park Fountain downtown, which has been shut off since 2019. If council approves the project, residents could soon enjoy new lighting, upgraded mechanics, and a refreshed gathering spot just off Capitol Avenue in time for the park's 150th anniversary.
   

• Lansing City Council adopts resolution to end Flock camera contracts (wilx.com) — Lansing City Council has voted to end its contracts with Flock Safety, directing Mayor Andy Schor and the police department to shut down the city's automated license plate reader network. Residents packed council chambers to argue the AI-powered cameras threaten civil liberties, while Lansing police defended them as vital tools for finding missing people and solving serious crimes.
   

• What to know about transitioning baby formula after WIC switches brand contract (wilx.com) — Starting November 1, Michigan's WIC program will switch its free baby formula from Similac to Enfamil, a change administered out of Lansing that could directly affect many local families' budgets and routines. Pediatricians say most infants can transition smoothly, but parents should watch for minor digestive changes and talk with their doctor if problems arise, and can use the WIC Connect app or state website for detailed guidance.
