Manistee approves tiny home development on Jackson Street (michigansthumb.com) — Manistee’s Planning Commission has approved a tiny home planned unit development on Jackson Street, moving a new housing option closer to reality. The faith-based Tiny Developers project will use helical piers to address challenging soil conditions and aims to sell smaller homes to residents earning around 80–120% of area median income. Final building plans still require approval from the city’s building official.

2. Manistee County Road Commission updates flood recovery, road closures (ourmidland.com) — Flood-damaged roads and bridges across Manistee County remain a major concern, with Johnson Road Bridge and parts of High Bridge, Potter and Fox Farm roads still closed or unsafe after April’s storms. Road commission leaders outlined repair progress, warned some closures could last a year or more, and said outside disaster funding is essential because local budgets cannot cover the $3.6–$4 million in estimated damage.

3. Manistee Shoreline Showcase announces summer concert series lineup (ourmidland.com) — Free Tuesday-night concerts are returning to Manistee starting June 16, with shows at 7 p.m. at the Rotary gazebo at First Street Beach and Orchard Beach State Park as the rain location. The Manistee Shoreline Showcase lineup runs weekly through Sept. 1, featuring everything from funk and jazz to Motown and Grateful Dead tributes. Donations are welcome but not required.

4. Federal disaster aid sought for Lake, Manistee, Oceana counties (shorelinemedia.net) — Manistee County is included in Michigan’s request for a federal disaster declaration that could unlock FEMA aid for homeowners, renters and local governments hit by April’s severe storms and flooding. If approved by President Trump, residents here may qualify for housing help, home repairs and infrastructure reimbursement as part of more than $38 million in documented statewide damage.
