ā¢ High water, big problems (gazettextra.com) ā Menominee County is under a state of emergency as record-high water on the Menominee River and Big Cedar River has washed out roads, damaged stream crossings, and forced all gates open at the Hattie Street Dam. Local officials warn residents to stay away from fast-moving water, avoid driving around barricades, and prepare for worsening flooding as rivers crest, even as state and regional emergency declarations unlock additional resources.

ā¢ Dispute Between Menominee Mayor, City Council Continues (radioresultsnetwork.com) ā Menomineeās mayor and city council are locked in a growing clash after Mayor Casey Hoffmanās attorney sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding reversal of a censure resolution and related sanctions. The letter claims the council violated his free-speech and whistleblower protections over his public comments on city decisions, conflicts of interest, and cannabis-related issues, and warns of possible civil-rights litigation if the council doesnāt back down. ā¢ Residents of 33 Michigan counties now eligible for tax extension relief (mlive.com) ā Menominee residents and businesses are now eligible for special state tax extension relief because the county is included in Michiganās expanded weather-related emergency declaration. Youāll need to actively request this help by contacting the state treasury, explaining how recent storms affected you, and including your Menominee address so penalties and interest can be waived if you qualify.
