• Mason Big Boy to close after nearly 50 years. Property to be sold (lansingstatejournal.com) — A longtime Mason Big Boy restaurant will close June 25 as its owner retires and the property is sold for a planned gas station, ending nearly 50 years as a local gathering spot. For Okemos readers, the story also points to separate coverage of possible redevelopment at the vacant Old Chicago Pizza site in town.

• Men's Discernment Retreat (dioceseoflansing.org) — Men in the Okemos area discerning a call to the priesthood can join an August 4–6 retreat in DeWitt led in part by St. Martha’s pastor, Fr. Ryan Riley. The program offers talks, small groups, daily Mass, and scholarships for those needing financial help.

• Capital Area All-Star games headlined by Mr. Basketball KJ Torbert (lansingstatejournal.com) — Local hoops fans can watch Okemos standout Elizabeth Schafer compete in the Capital Area All-Star girls game at Holt High School on June 17, alongside top talent from across Greater Lansing. The evening also features a boys all-star matchup headlined by Mr. Basketball KJ Torbert, plus dunk and 3-point contests, with $10 admission and kids 5 and under free.
