Popular Furniture Retailer Opening New Metro Detroit Location This Summer

Officials said this new 4,500-square-foot spot will be different from its other stores.

AUBURN HILLS, MI — IKEA is planning to open its second metro Detroit store this summer.

The popular furniture retailer will open a pop-up location sometime early this summer at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills.

Officials said this new 4,500-square-foot spot will be different from its other stores. They said customers will be able to work directly with staff to plan their home furnishings.

The new store will have more than 500 furnishings with online pick-up options, officials said.

"We’re thrilled to welcome customers to IKEA Auburn Hills early this summer," IKEA Market Manager Heather Spatz said. "This pop-up store with pick-up is a different format than our traditional IKEA stores, designed specifically to bring our signature style closer to the community."

The only other Michigan IKEA is located along Ford Road in Canton Township.
