• The Ben Mayes Scholarship Fund (upnorthvoice.com) — A new B A-Mayes-ing Scholarship Fund will support graduating seniors from Roscommon High School who plan to continue their education, honoring the life and legacy of local resident Ben Mayes. Community members can donate through the Roscommon County Community Foundation to help build the fund and expand opportunities for Roscommon students for years to come.
   

• Disaster Response Workshop (michigan.gov) — Roscommon will host a full-day disaster response workshop on October 6, 2026, at the Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center, aimed at staff and volunteers from archives, museums, libraries, and local government offices. Participants will learn hands-on strategies to protect historical records and may later be called on as volunteer cultural heritage “first responders” after disasters.
   

• This Week in Northeast Michigan History: June 15-21 (upnorthvoice.com) — Roscommon County’s early infrastructure and business history gets a nod in this week’s regional history roundup, including the first county road commission meeting in 1915 and an 1891 architect’s ad with a Roscommon address. The piece also recalls a deadly 1933 storm on Houghton Lake and similar snapshots from neighboring counties that shaped life across Northeast Michigan.
