His son Evan drove from Royal Oak to a Marquette hospital to reunite with him, praising the efforts of multiple agencies whose coordinated search by boat, foot, and air finally brought Berg home in good spirits despite injuries and hypothermia.

Oakland County woman accused of trafficking victim into prostitution (clickondetroit.com) — Police say a human trafficking investigation spanning Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Southfield, and Warren has led to felony charges against a Madison Heights woman, with her next hearing set at Royal Oak's 44th District Court on Sept. 18. Investigators are still looking for additional victims and urge anyone with information to contact Madison Heights police.
   

4. 💡DTE Rate Hikes (clickondetroit.com) — Royal Oak residents face higher utility costs as DTE's newly approved natural gas rate hike will add about $2.87 to typical monthly bills starting October 1, with another increase request coming soon. Oakland County leaders, including Board Chair David Woodward of Royal Oak, are organizing opposition to a proposed 10% electric rate jump that could hit in 2027 and are asking residents to share past bills.
