• Saline's Doug Kalitta Speeds into Semifinals at Michigan NHRA Debut (thesuntimesnews.com) — Saline resident Doug Kalitta thrilled local drag-racing fans by reaching the Top Fuel semifinals at Michigan's first full NHRA national event in 66 years, held at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park. He qualified No. 1, ran near 340 mph, and narrowly lost to teammate Shawn Langdon, who set a national speed record and went on to win the event.
