Youth Cornhole Coach Surprised Competitive Player Can't See
On June 13, Teen's passion for Cornhole Supports Access to Health and Dental Care, 3 pm, at One Eyed Jack's in Shelby Twp
Jarron Jackson, Co-owner of the Youth Cornhole Organization, has instructed countless players through the years, including 13 -year-old Wesley Cansler. But it wasn’t until two years into their friendship that Jackson realized the precise and passionate bag thrower from Shelby Twp. was legally blind due to WAGR syndrome, a rare genetic disorder.
“Oh my goodness,” Jackson said when he found out Wesley couldn't see. “It's mind-blowing. Everything I say to do, he does it like he can see. Wesley follows my directions better than some seeing people.”
Wesley will be hitting the bags this Saturday at One Eyed Jack’s in Shelby Twp. in support of Trinity Community Care’s Bags for Better Health fundraising event. Proceeds support Trinity Community Care’s mission of providing no-cost health and delta care to residents who are uninsured and underinsured.

His mom, Cathryne Cansler a Trinity Community Care team member said she organized the tournament to bring the two communities together.
“The cornhole community sees Wesley for his ability and passion for the game, not his disabilities,” Cansler said. “Trinity Community Care has been serving this community for several year, but many people still don’t know about our services. This event is trying to change that.”
