1. Sturgis City Commission gets update on interim manager search, independent probe (wilcoxnewspapers.com) — Sturgis city leaders are moving ahead with an independent investigation of the City Commission while also lining up interviews for an interim city manager before the June 22 meeting. Commissioners heard that law firm Miller Johnson will handle the probe, and that embezzlement accusations tied to the Doyle Community Center remain under review by law enforcement and the county prosecutor.

2. Changes announced for Sturgis Salvation Army – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — Sturgis residents who rely on the Salvation Army should know the local site at 105 N. Fourth St. will keep its weekly food pantry and emergency financial help, but end hot meals and Sunday worship after June 23. The center will operate as a Service Center, connecting St. Joseph County families with food and other critical resources supported by volunteers and community partners.

3. Meet Up and Eat Up programs begin – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — Families in Sturgis can now access free summer meals for kids at Eastwood, Congress, Wall, and Wenzel schools on weekdays, with breakfast and lunch offered at different times. Similar Meet Up and Eat Up programs are also running in nearby towns like Burr Oak, Constantine, Mendon, Three Rivers, and White Pigeon, helping ensure children across the county stay fed all summer.

4. Sturgis City Commission restores decorum after several contentious meetings (watershedvoice.com) — Sturgis commissioners just approved final plans for two downtown EV charging stations, new sidewalk assessments, and a $55,000 upgrade to the wastewater plant’s server system. The meeting also advanced the interim city manager search and confirmed that an embezzlement investigation involving the Doyle Community Center is still underway and will ultimately be reviewed by the county prosecutor.
