As demolition clears an entire subdivision for a hoped-for advanced manufacturing plant, developers are using $261 million in state funds while still eyeing the school parcel as one of the last missing pieces.

Genesee County chief who helped form new department to retire after 40 years (mlive.com) — Swartz Creek residents will see a leadership change in their shared Metro Police Authority as Chief Matt Bade retires May 31 after four decades in law enforcement. Bade, who helped merge the Swartz Creek and Mundy Township departments, is handing the reins to Lt. Michael Murphy, a founding member of the authority who already oversees daily operations.
