• Tornado confirmed in Melvindale Wednesday morning (thenewsherald.com) — A confirmed EF-1 tornado in nearby Melvindale and Lincoln Park knocked out power that closed Taylor Parks Elementary and Hoover Middle School on Wednesday, though classes resumed Thursday. The storm toppled trees, damaged homes and businesses, and left parts of several Downriver communities cleaning up, while a flood watch and chances for more severe weather continue across southeast Michigan.
