• County board approves gun lockers on tech school campuses (theoaklandpress.com) — Oakland County has approved new rifle lockers for sheriff’s deputies at four technical school campuses, expanding a program that already includes schools in the Walled Lake district. Supporters say the lockers could speed law-enforcement response to major threats, while several parents argue there’s no evidence more guns in schools improve safety and warn the lockers may increase liability instead.
• MHSFCA announces Hall of Fame's Class of 2026 (theoaklandpress.com) — Longtime Walled Lake Western assistant and former Farmington head coach John Bechtel is among the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association’s 2026 Hall of Fame inductees, highlighting Walled Lake’s role in Oakland County prep football. The June 19 ceremony in Southfield will honor 14 coaches from across Michigan, and tickets are available online for anyone who wants to attend.
