Man Shot, Killed During Ambush In Oakland County: Police

Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was shot to death during an ambush in Oakland County on Tuesday, according to police.

Officers found the 20-year-old Detroit man shot to death inside a car in the area of Williams Lake Road and Hanford Drive in Waterford Township around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, according to police.

Three men who were in the car at the time of the shooting told investigators that the shooting happened in the area of Pontiac Lake Road and Summit Drive, according to police.

Investigators determined the four men went to the pre-arranged area to meet a woman. That's where investigators said the men were ambushed by several other men with assault rifles.

The armed men fired shots at the car, striking and killing the front-seat passenger, according to police.

Investigators quickly identified two suspects. One was arrested later Tuesday in Clinton Township after a brief foot chase, according to police.

Officers recovered a backpack containing two handguns during the chase, according to police.

A second suspect was arrested early Wednesday morning in Eastpointe, according to police.

Both men were taken to the Waterford Police Department, according to police.

It's unclear if police are looking for additional suspects as they continue investigating the shooting. They will turn over their findings to the prosecutor's office for potential charges.
