Jimmie Wilson Jr. wants to form workgroup to study state prisons (wemu.org) — Ypsilanti’s state representative Jimmie Wilson Jr. is pushing to create a workgroup to investigate conditions in Michigan prisons after 67 women reportedly died at the Huron Valley Correctional Facility since 2015. He’s raising alarms about possible medical neglect and says other lawmakers are joining his call for answers and reforms that could impact incarcerated residents and their families across the region. 
• Student group may have funded pro-Palestine vandalism, 4 other takeaways from indictment (mlive.com) — Federal raids tied to a pro-Palestine vandalism investigation reached into Ypsilanti, where FBI and Michigan State Police searched a home on North Summit Street in April 2025. Eight people with ties to the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University now face conspiracy charges over a string of politically charged vandalism incidents across Southeast Michigan.
