• Restrictions on social media to safeguard underage users (mn.gov) — Andover residents should know that Rep. Peggy Scott is co-sponsoring a major Minnesota law to tighten social media rules for kids under 16, taking effect July 1, 2027. Platforms will need verifiable parental consent, stricter privacy defaults, limits on addictive features and targeted ads, and could face lawsuits and state enforcement for violations. 
• ‘Payment Transparency Act' aims to help subcontractors get paid (mn.gov) — A new Minnesota law backed by Rep. Peggy Scott of Andover will soon require state and local agencies to share payment details quickly with contractors and subcontractors on public construction projects. Starting Aug. 1, 2026, small firms will be able to request clear, timely information on when and how much they’re being paid, helping them enforce prompt-payment rules and improve cash flow.
