• Federal court upholds cities' short-term rental restrictions (minnlawyer.com) — A federal judge has upheld Apple Valley's rule that residential rentals must last at least 30 days, rejecting a property owner's claim that the limit is an unconstitutional taking. The decision means Apple Valley landlords can still rent their properties, but only for month-or-longer stays, keeping short-term vacation-style rentals effectively off the table. 
• Tree Trimmer Accused of Crushing Co-Worker's Head at Job Site (wideopencountry.com) — A tree-trimming worker was killed at an Apple Valley job site when a hydraulic grapple fatally injured his head, and a coworker now faces a manslaughter charge. Authorities in Dakota County outline how the incident unfolded and note that court proceedings will continue in September.
• 3 more Feeding Our Future sentences (americanexperiment.org) — A man from Apple Valley has been sentenced to 54 months in federal prison for wire fraud and money laundering tied to the Feeding Our Future case. Two Minneapolis co-defendants also received multi-year sentences, with more outcomes expected in the coming weeks.
