• 2 Rescued on Steamboat Lake Near Cass Lake After Boat Blows Away (lptv.org) — Two Minneapolis women had to be rescued this afternoon after their boat blew away while they were swimming on Steamboat Lake in rural Cass Lake, with strong winds making conditions dangerous. Quick action by a resort guest, a fisherman, and Cass County deputies brought all three women safely to shore, where they were treated for minor injuries and exhaustion.
   

• Tribal elections result in 6 incumbents losing to challengers (kaxe.org) — Cass Lake readers are seeing big changes across Minnesota Chippewa Tribe member bands, as six incumbents lost their seats in Tuesday’s regular election. From Leech Lake to White Earth, new and returning leaders were chosen for key secretary-treasurer and district representative roles, with most results unofficial but expected to be certified by tribal election boards.
