• Former Detroit Lakes Schools assistant sentenced for stealing over $12,000 in sports and activities money (dl-online.com) — A former Detroit Lakes Public Schools administrative assistant has been sentenced for stealing thousands of dollars from high school sports and activities accounts, with jail time, restitution, and five years of supervised probation. The case, uncovered after coaches noticed missing funds, involved multiple athletics and prom accounts between 2022 and 2024 and led to a stayed prison sentence contingent on strict conditions.
   

• Detroit Lakes Man Facing Felony Drug Charge (lakesarearadio.net) — Detroit Lakes residents may notice a local drug case moving through Becker County District Court, where a 71-year-old Detroit Lakes man faces a third-degree controlled substance charge. Prosecutors allege he possessed more than 11 grams of cocaine across two incidents at a local Holiday Inn and during a January traffic stop, with lab tests confirming the drugs.
   

• Despite progress with the feds, significant Medicaid cuts loom​ in Minnesota (dl-online.com) — Detroit Lakes readers are being warned that Minnesota could lose up to $3.1 billion a year in federal Medicaid funding, threatening health care access statewide, especially in rural areas.
