• New street signs coming to Fairmont (fairmontsentinel.com) — Fairmont drivers will see new blue, retroreflective street signs after the City Council approved replacing all street name signs and having city staff install them in-house. Debate continues over whether to spend extra on new poles and logos, while the council also advanced a Lake Avenue assessment objection, a tax abatement for Cress Refrigeration, and a downtown infrastructure design contract.
   

• Lakes Foundation holding lake cleanup challenges (fairmontsentinel.com) — Fairmont residents are invited to join new monthly Lake Cleanup Challenges organized by the Fairmont Lakes Foundation, with photos from local ramps and parks entering you in a Chamber Bucks drawing. By picking up trash around Budd, Hall, Sisseton, Amber, and nearby parks like Gomsrud and Sylvania, volunteers can help keep community lakes cleaner while staying safe with gloves and proper footwear.
   

• Martin County Library launches summer programs (fairmontsentinel.com) — Families in Fairmont can now dive into the Martin County Library’s new dino-themed “Unearth a Story” summer reading program, with events based out of the Fairmont branch on North Park Street. Kids can enjoy weekly activities like STEM projects, crafts, storytimes, and reading challenges tailored to different ages, all aimed at keeping them engaged and learning through the summer.
