Nighttime Bowfishing Approved Across Lake Minnetonka

A special permit opens the entire lake for a limited spring and early summer window.

LAKE MINNETONKA, MN — Nighttime bowfishing is allowed across all areas of Lake Minnetonka through June 30 under a special event permit approved by the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District.

The permit allows bowfishing from one-half hour after sunset until 1 a.m. Participants must carry the special event permit while bowfishing.

The permit also includes several restrictions:

  • Bowfishing is prohibited within 150 feet of occupied structures.
  • Bowfishing is prohibited within 300 feet of campsites.
  • Fish cannot be returned to the water.
  • Fish cannot be left on the banks of Lake Minnetonka, its channels, tributaries or wetland areas.
