Drawing on his family's long Black farming legacy, he's tackling food deserts, selling at nearby markets, and training young farmers of color to build healthier, more self-sufficient Twin Cities communities.
   

2. Feds sue MN, St. Paul and Minneapolis for 'unconstitutional' firearm purchase waiting period (fox9.com) — Minneapolis residents are at the center of a new federal lawsuit challenging Minnesota's 30‑day waiting period and permit‑to‑purchase rules for buying handguns and certain rifles. The Justice Department argues Minneapolis and St. Paul often exceed legal deadlines, leaving some buyers waiting up to 60 days, while state and city officials have yet to publicly respond.
   

3. Parents raise concerns over Minneapolis school closure proposals (kstp.com) — Families in Minneapolis could see up to 16 public schools closed or merged under a new transformation plan that may start in 2027, including Hiawatha Elementary. Parents worry about longer commutes, losing neighborhood schools, and how shifting students might drain funding and stability across Minneapolis Public Schools, even for campuses not currently on the closure list.
   

4. Rain postpones weekend closure of eastbound I-94 in Minneapolis (fox9.com) — If you rely on eastbound I-94 through Minneapolis, plan ahead: this weekend's full closure between Highway 55 and I-394 has been pushed to Oct. 9–12, with the Highway 55 ramp now closing Sept. 30–Oct. 12. MnDOT says wet weather delayed bridge repairs, so drivers should watch 511 and project updates for changing detours and lane impacts.
