Northfield Native Named Aurora Queen of the Snows
Abby Hoglin, a 2005 Northfield graduate and member of the Brogger family, will reign as queen for 2014's Winter Carnival in St. Paul.
A Northfield girl βmade goodβ last week, as the girl many knew as Abby Brogger during her time here, now Abby Hoglin of Lakeville, was crowned as Aurora Queen of the Snows.
Aurora serves as the queen of St. Paulβs Winter Carnival, the βcoolest festival on earthβ and an event that has traditionally marked the ending of winter and the eventual ushering in of spring.
However, with it wrapping up on Feb. 1 this year, that remains to be seen.

She told the Pioneer Press that she survived the Polar Vortex (which hindered some of last weekendβs activities) because she is βapparently immune to the cold,β adding that she even forgot her mittens one day.
The Pioneer Pressβ website, TwinCities.com, has a complete profile of Abby, who was in her second run at Aurora. The article appeared in Saturdayβs print edition of the paper, as well.
Her princesses this year also include a couple of new, βlifelongβ friends: the North Wind Princess is Elizabeth "Lyz" Carlson, 25, of Maplewood, sponsored by Kane's Catering; the East Wind Princess is Christine Schrader, 33, of Lakeville, sponsored by Power Systems Research; the West Wind Princess is Abby Massee, 23, of Savage, sponsored by Hamernick's Decorating; and the South Wind Princess is Ashley Galloway, 24, of Vadnais Heights, sponsored by Jimmy's Food and Drink.
