• Classic car backfire sparks fire that destroys 125-year-old barn near Pelican Rapids (valleynewslive.com) — A 125-year-old barn and attached wooden silo east of Pelican Rapids were destroyed Wednesday after a classic car stored inside backfired and sparked a fire. The Pelican Rapids owner and his son escaped without injuries, but the historic structures, tools, and 1976 Mercury are a total loss as investigators review what happened.
   

• Essentia Health gives tips to tackle Swimmer's Itch (valleynewslive.com) — Swimmers using Dunvilla Beach in Pelican Rapids are being warned about recent cases of swimmer’s itch, an allergic skin reaction caused by tiny parasites in the water. Essentia Health doctors say it’s uncomfortable but temporary, and recommend vigorously toweling off after swimming, avoiding scratching, and using anti-itch creams or cool baths to ease symptoms.
