Women of Trillium Woods Create Elaborate Hats for Kentucky Derby
Annual Tradition Draws Residents Together Ahead of Run for the Roses
At Churchill Downs, you could spend $5,000 on a Kentucky Derby Hat. But what would your grandmother say about that? We found out on Monday at Trillium Woods, where ladies in the senior living community made their own Kentucky Derby hats and shared in-person tips for making your own at home.
It’s an annual tradition at Trillium Woods in Plymouth, where creating extravagant and ornately designed hats and fascinators paves the way for watch parties during the 152nd “run for the roses” this Saturday. One resident did not make a hat – and with good reason. She already has one from when she attended the Derby in person.
Trillium Woods offers residents a vibrant, maintenance-free lifestyle designed to support both independence and peace of mind. Set on beautifully landscaped grounds, the community features walking paths, welcoming gathering spaces, multiple dining venues, and a wide range of wellness, cultural, and lifelong learning opportunities. Residents can choose how to spend their days — whether pursuing creative interests, staying physically active, enjoying chef-prepared meals, connecting with neighbors, or simply relaxing.
