Updated: Superior National Forest lifts campfire ban for BWCAW beginning June 12 (boreal.org) — Campers from Two Harbors heading into the Boundary Waters should know the Superior National Forest is lifting its emergency campfire ban on June 12 after recent rains lowered fire danger. Officials still urge small, closely watched fires and extra care with any ignition sources, especially after recent wildfires near Ely and Two Harbors and a forecast for another stretch of dry, windy weather.
   

4. Angler's Second-Ever Lake Trout Sets Record, Thanks To Veteran Guide (wired2fish.com) — A Lake Superior guide service based in Two Harbors helped a Benson angler land and release a 45.5-inch lake trout that now ranks as Minnesota’s catch-and-release state record. The group stayed near Two Harbors because of strong winds, jigging in about 100 feet of water. The guide later documented the fish and submitted the record application, continuing his streak of record catches.
