• Royals earn upset win in playoff opener (hometownsource.com) — Watertown-Mayer softball fans can celebrate a big postseason highlight, as the No. 11-seeded Royals stunned No. 6 Maple Lake 12-5 in the Section 5AA opener behind a huge game from Nicole Haataja. The team then battled hard in narrow losses to higher-seeded Annandale and Southwest Christian, ultimately ending their season on a walk-off but showing they could compete with top programs.
