📰 News we're reading

• Byram hopes for water service improvements with new board representation (wlbt.com) — Byram is getting its own representative on the new Metro Jackson Water Authority board, and city leaders hope that will finally bring faster fixes for chronic low pressure and outages. Mayor Richard White says he fields water complaints daily and wants long-overdue line upgrades, more transparency from JXN Water, and eventually a separate Byram-run system to better protect residents and businesses.

• First appointee to Metro Jackson Water Authority board could be introduced next week (wlbt.com) — Byram will have its own seat on the new nine-member Metro Jackson Water Authority board, and Mayor Richard White already has a candidate in mind, though he hasn’t shared the name. The board, which must be appointed by May 1, will eventually oversee Jackson’s water and sewer systems, giving Byram a direct voice in decisions that affect local water reliability.
