Funded with federal and state support, the project promises an ADA-accessible crossing that removes a dangerous barrier, making it easier for residents and visitors to safely enjoy nearby museums, parks, and outdoor attractions. 
2. Jackson Public Works faces $8M budget cut amid thousands of service requests (clarionledger.com) — Jackson's Public Works Department is facing an $8 million budget cut next year, even as it struggles to handle more than 6,000 service requests and widespread staffing shortages. City council members are pushing back, calling roads, drainage and overgrown rights-of-way top priorities as they weigh changes to Mayor John Horhn's proposed $112.9 million budget before the Sept. 15 deadline.
3. Jackson family questions JPD traffic stop (wapt.com) — A Jackson family and City Councilman Kenneth Stokes are pressing for answers after a Jackson Police Department traffic stop where they say an officer took a passenger's gun and issued a concealed-weapon ticket that never reached the court system. JPD accountability questions grow after dispatcher, detective allegations (wapt.com) — Serious misconduct allegations against a Jackson Police Department dispatcher and a detective are raising fresh concerns about accountability and public trust in local law enforcement. Investigators say dispatcher Taylor Williams misused crime databases and may have aided people tied to criminal activity, while outside legal experts warn the case could affect ongoing investigations even as city leaders stress most officers remain committed to residents' safety.
5. Millions invested in Meadowbrook/I-55N intersection area (northsidesun.com) — Tens of millions of dollars are reshaping the Meadowbrook/I-55 North and northeast Jackson area, with major expansions at St. Andrew's Episcopal School, St. Richard Catholic School and Reformed Theological Seminary.
