Contractor volunteers to mow high grass at Grove Park answering resident concerns (wlbt.com) — A Jackson contractor is volunteering his crew and equipment to mow the long-neglected Grove Park Golf Course after residents and a Hinds County supervisor raised concerns about overgrown grass. With city finances tight, his free work will clear 16 acres of paths and fairways, and leaders hope it sparks more business-led volunteer efforts to help "rebirth" and rebuild Jackson neighborhoods.

Fire destroys two apartment buildings in Jackson, displacing several families (wlbt.com) — A major fire at The Park at Marsala apartments in southwest Jackson destroyed two buildings Monday night, displacing multiple families and damaging nearby units with water and collapsed ceilings. Jackson Fire Department crews contained the blaze without injuries and are still investigating the cause, while the American Red Cross works to help residents who lost homes and belongings.

Jackson resident creates petition to punish Councilman Kenneth Stokes (clarionledger.com) — Jackson residents have submitted a petition asking the City Council to discipline Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes after a heated exchange with Councilman Brian Grizzell over renaming Wood Street. The petition, signed by 90 residents, seeks censure, a reprimand, and a $500 penalty, while council leaders promise a response as broader frustrations over decorum and neighborhood priorities like potholes and blight continue.
