Mississippi Business Alliance to hold 2026 General Assembly in Jackson (darkhorsepressnow.com) — Jackson will host the Mississippi Business Alliance's 2026 General Assembly on Sept. 9 at the Jackson Convention Complex, drawing business and economic development leaders from across the state. Breakout sessions, a plenary on the economy, and recognition programs offer local professionals a chance to network, learn about growth sectors, and explore sponsorship opportunities.
   

2. A tour of the McNair Davis Planetarium after city turns over operations to MMA (wlbt.com) — Jackson's McNair Davis Planetarium is still several months from reopening as the city hands operations to the Mississippi Museum of Art and completes a $23 million renovation. New digital exhibits, a 60-foot dome, and expanded seating will link space education with nearby art galleries, promising fast-paced programming when doors finally open.
   

3. The Rev. Miskelly leading Galloway United Methodist to serve the Jackson community as much as possible (northsidesun.com) — A longtime downtown Jackson congregation, Galloway United Methodist, is doubling down on serving the city under senior pastor Rev. Dr. Raigan Miskelly, who arrived in 2023. She's working with groups like Downtown Jackson Partners and city leadership to keep the church rooted in the capital's core while reaching beyond its walls with practical support and spiritual encouragement.
   

4. Eight Black Scholars Selected for New Academic Appointments (jbhe.com) — One of eight newly announced Black scholars is Trena Warren, who's joining Belhaven University in Jackson as an education professor and data coordinator. With three decades in K-12 leadership and student support, she'll help shape graduate education programs here while other honorees take posts at universities nationwide.
   

5. Delta Fest 2026: The $300 Billion Fight for Deep South Business Owners (mbemag.com) — Jackson will again host Delta Fest Sept. 2–4, a three-day gathering aimed at helping diverse business owners tap into nearly $300 billion in new Deep South investment. Sessions in the city will connect entrepreneurs with major utilities, shipbuilders, automakers, and HBCU leaders, plus offer livestream access for those who can't make it to Jackson in person.
