Three charged with murder after fatal Yazoo City shooting (wapt.com) — Yazoo City residents are waking up to news that three people have been jailed on murder charges after a Sunday morning shooting on East 4th Street left 20-year-old Fredrick Washington dead and two others wounded. Police Chief Joseph Daughtry urged the community to help reach local youth and share any information as investigators continue pursuing additional charges.
   

2. Boys and Girls Club accepts lease with city (yazooherald.net) — Yazoo City officials have finalized a lease that clears the way for the Boys and Girls Club to move into the former Super 10 building on North Washington Street, giving the long-closed local chapter a new home. The donated property, championed by Alderwoman Elizabeth Thomas, sits near the Triangle Cultural Center and Ricks Memorial Library, positioning the club to again serve local children downtown.
   

3. City bid process draws questions (yazooherald.net) — Yazoo City’s mayor and aldermen sparred over how repair contracts are bid after only one proposal came in to overhaul the deteriorated city barn for about $144,000. Concerns ranged from strict noon deadlines and repeat contractors to a shortage of certified local firms, before the board ultimately accepted the lone bid while warning about legal and favoritism issues.
   

4. Yazoo City Lady Indians fall in First Round to Itawamba AHS (yazooherald.net) — Yazoo City volleyball fans saw the Lady Indians’ 2026 season end last weekend with a straight-sets playoff loss to Itawamba AHS in the first round. The team’s seniors, including Carrington Clark and four classmates, closed out their high school careers after leading Yazoo City back into postseason play.
